Teacher Training FAQ
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE PROGRAM?
In-person or online! You can find the link in the workshops page on the MindBody desktop or mobile site. You can also call or email us to assist you in registering.
WHAT STYLE OF YOGA IS THE TRAINING?
This Vinyasa-based training harmonizes detailed instruction and alignment with breath and fluid movement. We have created our own unique flow consisting of sun salutations and various postures that are skillfully sequenced to complete a balanced 60-minute class. We also teach proper modification and educate trainees on using props to make this practice suitable for all levels. Our flow will also be taught in a beginner format and more advanced format so that the trainee will have experience teaching to different groups of students. Within this training, students will also be introduced to the practice and teachings of Yin Yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, Restorative Yoga, Kundalini & Yoga Nidra.
HOW PROFICIENT IN YOGA DO I HAVE TO BE TO DO THE 200-HOUR PROGRAM?
We suggest that you have a minimum of 6 months of consistent yoga practice before enrolling in our teacher training program. We want to make sure that trainees have a basic foundation in the primary yoga postures before learning how to teach. Each training weekend will involve a lot of physical activity and we want to ensure that the body is ready for it!
WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO BECOME AN INSTRUCTOR BUT WOULD LIKE TO DEEPEN MY YOGA PRACTICE?
No problem! Our 200-hour training is ideal for those who want to dig deeper into the study of yoga, and to improve their own practice. It's also great for students who simply want to have a transformational experience and to be a part of our loving Yoga Community.
WHAT ARE THE 200-HOUR GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS?
In order to graduate from the program, you must be paid in full and fulfill the following requirements:
· Attendance of in-class teacher training sessions
· Successful completion of homework and quizzes
· Participation in teaching a 60-minute class to the community
DO I HAVE TO PAY TO PRACTICE AT BUDDHA BELLA DURING THE TRAINING?
When you enroll for a 200-Hour program, you will have access to all regularly scheduled yoga classes from the beginning of the first training weekend to the end of the last training weekend without extra cost. This benefit does not include workshops or other training programs.
ARE ANY BOOKS + MATERIALS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE TRAININGS?
The Teacher Training Manual is included, but you will need to purchase additional required books.
Here are a few our our required reads. You will receive a complete reading list if you sign up:
· Yamas and Niyamas by Deborah Adele
· The Complete Guide To Yin Yoga by Bernie Clark
· Eastern Body Wester Mind by Anodea Judith
These books can be purchased via kindle or paperback.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND ON 200-HOUR HOMEWORK?
The homework assignments are based off of some of the required readings and can be completed within a 2 hour time period per book. We enroll each student in an online anatomy course as well that involves a series of videos and Q+A. We understand our students are often juggling jobs and families while in training, so we keep the homework manageable and light throughout training.
WILL I BE QUALIFIED TO TEACH YOGA ONCE I COMPLETE THE 200-HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM?
Yes! With the successful completion of all the requirements of the program, including contact hours, homework, and exam, you will receive your Letter of Completion and Diploma evidencing your training at the 200-Hour Level. Graduates of the 200-Hour program usually begin teaching in small studios, gyms, with private clientele (friends and family), etc. You will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance.
WHAT SETS THIS TRAINING APART FROM OTHER 200 HOUR TRAININGS?
Our training takes a deep dive into both the physical and spiritual aspects of the science and philosophy of yoga. Our studio offerings are very eclectic, and we train our teachers to meet this standard. We have found that in order to properly teach the complexity of a vinyasa class, one must understand the depths of its complimentary practice - yin yoga, as well as the many other styles of yoga and meditation developed over thousands of years. Because of this, your time spent immersed in our training program will help you uncover your own authentic teaching style. This makes our training experience incredibly unique.
